100s of high school.kids walked out of class, teachers pulled a sick out….the conservative take over of my local school board here in Jefferson County CO is causing all manner of reaction. The conservatives are shocked and outraged that students and teachers would cause such a fuss over ham fisted revisionism of the History curriculum and other such actions. According to them civil protest has no place in thier view of American History.
The layers of misinformation, lack of education and unintended irony are thick.
"Civil disorder and social strife are at the patriotic heart of American history – from the Boston Tea Party to the American Revolution to the Civil Rights Movement. And these events and ideas are essential within the study of a college-level, AP U.S. History course.â€ï»¿
Schools close and more student protests loom as the fight over history curriculum continues.
