Ritualistic
Some like to watch, some like to listen. Of the two I find the storytelling  magic of listening a bit more powerfull, even more so when you can hear the story grow over time.Â
One example of this is what has now become yet another ritual of the season, Jean Shepherd's Christmas Story The Movie. Bob love it  it has brought leg lamps and double dog dares to the masses. But if you want to get at the Campbellian thing itself then you have to get closer to the source material.Â
So fire up your media player of choice and  listen to  this

And then if you like Jean Shepherd and want to get a little bit of him a few times every week subscribe to  http://feeds.feedburner.com/Shep-a-day  where I have set up an automated podcast feed of Shep radio broadcast  that happened on that day.
