Kill Doctor Lucky Kickstarter Edition
If there is one company that has consistently delivered on the promise of crowd funding it is +James Ernest 's Cheapass Games.
Since rising from the downtime of game deving for other people Cheapass has been launching it's new and refurbished games via Kickstarter. Participants get in on early design phases, to watch the bonuses grow as funding grows, to beta print-n-play versions and then once funded to follow along the path to a finished game turning up in your mailbox.
Kill Doctor Lucky , now almost old enough to drink in most states, has had more than a few printings, expansions and revisions. This current version fixes some of the older sticking points, comes with a couple of board expansions and varriants, all in a well printed full color.
The acid test is busting open the box and diving into a game. My youngest had not played much before but boy howdy was he ridding the Lucky Train a few moves into tje first game. Closing off the side wing for three players is a great great thing when playing with new/younger players.
There where a few moments when we quibbled over line of site, my old war gamer skills quickly grabbed a piece of string to end them.
Who Killed Doctor Lucky in the first game. The youngest player with everyone else laughing along at the overacting.
With the varriants and bonus boards there is plenty of replay. I am keeping my eyes peeled for a refurbishment of the Moonbase expansion.
Bottom line, twenty years and the game still delivers. Go get.
