Amazon is ready to release a 7 inch tablet to continue its Kindle hw line…and it will sport a custom version of Androidos 2.2. Why 2.2 and not the more tablet ready 3.x series? Seems Amazon wants to be as free of the Google ties as possible. The Amazon custom 2.2 Android OS will not include the Goggle App Store but instead focus on the Amazon suite of apps (market, mp3 store/player, amazon store, etc etc) . An interesting take on things and begs the question…how soon till Cyanogen or somesuch is on the device?
