A few times every year I quote this movie, I quote it in emails and threads, I mash it up in songs and I have sung it as a lullaby to my children…and every year the honest truth of it is as real as ever …and now there is a whole movement who are scratching at an itch they can not name, can not explain well enough…only it was named and it was explained…back in the 1970's. There is a clip going around that "explains" the OWS meme…thing is I doubt if it is going to explain it to anyone already set on not understanding. It astounds me the layers of bullshit folks will throw on the issue from all sides. That those corps who wrecked the economy , who then got bailed out, are being so vociferously defended by the very people they worked over is a testament to the lack of reason and discourse in our modern era.

The usual suspects want to use this as another chance to bang the bongos in a park or to mock those who say the system is borked but good. I have seen some of the better minds of these generations wail on in defense of the swindle because they think themselves part of the silver spoon brigade. I have also seen otherwise rational folks pile on the tired old tropes of consumer anarchy and life style rebellion. If only we can rise above and beyond the fashionable and feeble to get at something better.

From what I can see though there are people saying things that need not only saying but debating and much hashing with an eye to action. I can only hope some reason and rational action can come out of this recent wave of societal churn. When I am in NYC in the next few days I will go see the throngs and with some luck find that rare bit of reason and rational action.
