I have not tried it or even verified the actuality of this…yes i look to the intertubes to be the better angles of my research….but from the quick blurb and musing in my noodle this looks damn interesting. until SteamOS is out and about fully in the wilds things like this make me wonder just how much of next weekend I will loose to going down this rabbit hole.

it will be a hoot to see where this goes in the wild. In the years since this has started we have a few devices doing some of these things and, most importantly, without the need for a  PocketPC.  FitBit comes to mind.  many of the devices around me now do parts of it…my phone, tablets and chumby all do accel data. There is even an app for my phone that uses the camera and flash to  grab heartbeat data. Â
My bet is #adafruitindustries  and #sparkfun  will have  the parts..if not the kits…in short order.

I had some time last weekend to futz with the Chumby I have on my dinning room table to see what updates there were to be had.  Much to my surprise and chagrin I found the latest versions of Zurk's amazing Chumby firmware has included in it the  web interface thingamabob I worked up well over a year ago…and promptly forgot to update.
I still use it, but it was always just me and maybe two other people using it. Now that I know others are using it I am very much wanting to make it look less like le pewp. Several features were left dangling and there are hooks for other things…so yeah… motivation to go back in and fix it up proper. Â
If you have a Chumby sitting around you should give Zurk's firmware a try. It really does extend the life cycle of these devices.Â
